Syc's Death Waypoint Mod / Addon

Mods 1.26 / Mods 1.21

Syc's Death Waypoint is a specially created mod to help the player quickly return to the place of death and pick up lost loot and XP. The worst part of dying in Minecraft is sometimes the trip back. You remember falling into a cave, but not which entrance you used, and every tunnel starts to look the same when your enchanted pickaxe is somewhere on the ground. Death Waypoint helps you find that spot again. It records where you died and gives you several ways to navigate back toward the items you left behind.

After respawning, check the chat for your death coordinates. You can use those numbers to work out which direction to travel, especially if you were a long way from home when things went wrong. The add-on also provides a recovery compass and a distance display, so you have more than one way to judge whether you’re getting closer. On the way, watch for the beam marking the death location. It gives you something visible to head toward once you’re close enough to see it, which can be useful when the terrain around you doesn’t look familiar. A marker in the distance is easier to follow than trying to remember whether you turned left or right at the last hill.

The tools become especially useful after a long mining trip. Suppose you went underground through a narrow opening, followed a winding cave, and died after collecting a useful haul. The coordinates can help you locate the right area, while the beam points you toward the place you need to investigate. You’ll still need to find a safe route through the terrain, so bring a spare pickaxe, some food, and enough blocks to deal with gaps or steep drops. If a group of mobs caused your first death, a weapon and a little armor may be worth taking too. And if you die again on the way, the add-on can show another beam at the new location; the earlier marker remains until you reach it. That makes it easier to tell where both attempts ended.

A waypoint helps you find the location, but it doesn’t put your belongings into a protected grave. Items can still be lost to hazards or disappear under the normal game rules, so it’s a good idea to head back promptly. Once you reach the spot, look around carefully and collect whatever remains, including any nearby experience. To install the add-on, open the downloaded file with Minecraft and enable its packs in the world settings. It is described as achievement friendly, which makes it a useful companion for a survival world where you’re still working toward those goals. You can keep it active while playing normally and leave it to do its job in the background. Hopefully you won’t need the marker often, but it’s reassuring to have a direction to follow when a trip doesn’t go as planned.

Installation Mod:
- Download the .mcaddon / .mcpack;
- Open the file to import into the game;
- In World Settings → Resource Packs and Behavior Packs, enable it (turn on Experiments if needed);
- Have fun!
