DoubleHands - Functional Offhand Mod / Addon

Mods 1.26 / Mods 1.21

DoubleHands – Functional Offhand Mod is basically “real offhand support for Bedrock without touching experiments or breaking your existing packs. Once it’s installed, your offhand actually matters: you can put almost any item or block there and use it directly, while your main hand stays free for tools or weapons. It feels way closer to Java, just wired into Bedrock controls in a smart way.

For years, the Bedrock offhand slot has felt like an absolute joke. You could shove a shield, a totem, or a firework in there, but placing actual blocks, dumping water buckets, or throwing projectiles from your offhand was completely off the table. It made building and strip-mining feel clunky, constantly forcing you to scramble through your hotbar slots just to lay down torches or bridge across a lava pit. This addon rewrites that dynamic entirely by implementing functional offhand mechanics that mirror the Java Edition workflow. If your main hand holds a tool or weapon, your offhand instantly takes over right-click or tap actions. You can finally strip-mine at deepslate levels with a pickaxe in your right hand while seamlessly placing torches or building blocks with your left.

What makes this mod hit differently is how naturally it handles action priority. Your main hand tools still behave exactly like they should. If you swing an axe at a log, it strips the bark; if you swing a hoe, it tills the soil; but the second you look at an empty surface, your offhand kicks in. You can carry seeds in your left hand while tilling dirt with your right, turning early-game farming into a rapid one-tap sprint. Bridging across treacherous gaps in the Nether or the End no longer requires awkward hotbar gymnastics. Even better, it packs built-in dynamic lighting: slotting any emissive item like a torch or lantern into your offhand actively radiates light around your character, illuminating dark ravines as you sprint without forcing you to litter the ground with sticks and coal.

Combat, aerial mobility, and inventory swapping feel just as slick. You can rock fireworks in your offhand to boost your Elytra glides whenever you need that extra speed burst, leaving your main hand completely open for a loaded crossbow or sword. Throwing eggs, snowballs, and wind charges directly from your left hand adds massive utility to sweaty PvP exchanges and mob farm testing. Swapping items into your offhand is completely painless, too. You don't have to open your inventory every single time—you can simply double-sneak, use the universal pointing emote, or map a dedicated keybind on keyboard and controller to flip items back and forth on pure muscle memory.

The core idea is simple: double-sneak to swap something into your offhand (or use the “over there emote on touch), then keep a tool or nothing in your main hand. From there, your offhand item becomes the one that places or activates. That means you can mine with a pick while placing torches from offhand, farm with a hoe while dropping seeds automatically, or strip logs, shoot bows, and swing tools without accidentally placing blocks you’re just trying to hold. Buckets, flint and steel, “technical pieces like tripwire hooks, crops, redstone bits — they all work from offhand and play the proper sounds.

Because main-hand actions take priority, the addon feels natural fast: tools still behave like tools, but your offhand finally pulls its weight. For survival runs, redstone setups, and builders who miss Java muscle memory, DoubleHands makes Bedrock movement and gameplay way smoother.
