Torch OffHand Addon new feature - hold a torch in your left hand. You will be able to light your way and keep a weapon in your hands. Getting caught in a pitch-black cave with your sword put away because you had to place a light source is a brutal way to lose your gear, but the Torch Offhand Addon finally fixes Bedrock's most frustrating inventory restriction. It brings that legendary Java-tier quality of life straight to your console or mobile screen, letting you dual-wield your way through the darkest chunk borders.

For years, anyone playing on the MCPE engine has had to deal with the absolute nightmare of juggling their hotbar while spelunking. You mine a few blocks of deepslate, realize your screen is getting too dark, swap over to your torches, slap one on the cavern wall, and scramble to pull your pickaxe back out before a Creeper drops from the ceiling. It’s a clunky, outdated loop that completely ruins your momentum. By letting you slot a glowing torch right into your secondary hand, this mod permanently deletes that middleman. Your dominant hand stays glued to your primary weapon or tool, meaning your mining speed and defensive reaction times never take a hit just because you wandered into a dark ravine.

The biggest gameplay shift when loading this into your behavior packs is how it alters subterranean exploration. The item doesn't just sit in the corner of your screen as a useless cosmetic sprite; it actually emits a dynamic light radius around your player model as you move. Sprinting through massive, winding dripstone caves or creeping around the edges of an Ancient City feels entirely different when you carry your own personal illumination bubble. You can spot exposed diamond veins, hidden creeper holes, and abandoned mineshaft entrances without wasting half a stack of coal to light up a tunnel you will literally never walk through again. If you have to drop down into an unrendered gorge, you can finally see exactly where you are landing before you commit to a sweaty water bucket clutch.

Your standard PvE combat encounters get a massive tactical upgrade out of this setup, too. Trying to conquer a zombie dungeon spawner usually involves a frantic, panicked scramble to place lights on the floor so the mobs stop spawning, which leaves you wide open to taking cheap hits. When your offhand is passively illuminating the room, you can keep your Netherite sword swinging through the horde. You maintain constant aggro pressure on hostiles without backing into a corner to manage your visibility. Even if you are just doing some late-night base building on a crowded multiplayer server, skipping the chore of placing and breaking temporary work lights saves an insane amount of time.

Integrating this into your active survival seed feels like an official patch Mojang should have rolled out half a decade ago. The code runs incredibly clean in the background, smoothly updating the lighting engine across chunk boundaries without triggering those nasty frame stutters that usually plague older mobile devices. If you want to stop playing inventory Tetris and start conquering the underground like a proper veteran, grabbing the Torch Offhand Addon is a mandatory upgrade for your next world.
