Your next Minecraft adventure could begin with a visit from the Wandering Trader and end with you flying over your base as Rainbow Dash. My Little Pony brings familiar characters into the world and lets you take on the form of a pony yourself. Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash are among the characters connected to the add-on, with Trixie joining the selection too. Each kind of pony offers a different way to play. You might choose an earth pony for extra strength, try a unicorn’s magic, or take to the air as a pegasus. It’s a playful addition for fans of the series, especially if you’ve ever wanted your Minecraft character to do more than simply wear a pony-themed skin.

To transform, you need a morphing gem. The Wandering Trader offers gems in exchange for valuable materials, so keep an eye out for him and have your emerald blocks or diamonds ready. Once you have a gem, hold it and use it to change form: right-click on a computer or press and hold on the screen when playing on a touch device. The different pony types have different abilities, so your choice affects more than your appearance. Earth ponies gain increased strength, although the effect varies between characters. Pegasi can fly, which makes it tempting to look at your village and surrounding builds from above. Unicorns have access to magic, while an alicorn combines flight with access to more powerful spells. Before playing, download the add-on file, open it with Minecraft, and enable its resource and behavior packs in your world settings. Turn on the Beta APIs experiment for the items, and enable the Education Edition setting if you want pegasus flight to work. It’s also a good idea to leave at least two inventory slots empty before transforming: a full inventory can cause the gem to disappear when you change back. Unicorn and alicorn forms may need free hotbar space for their magic items as well. Once you’re set up, start with a character you like and see how their abilities fit into your usual routine. Flying over a new build, trying a spell in an open area, or inviting friends to create a pony village can give a familiar world a very different feel.
