New Potions Overhaul Mod / Addon

Mods 1.26 / Mods 1.21

New Potions Overhaul - download the mod and get a large expansion of the number of potions in Minecraft. There’s a moment during a Minecraft fight when you wish you’d brought something more useful than another stack of cobblestone. Maybe a group of mobs has you backed into a corner, or you’ve taken more damage than expected and the way out is blocked. New Potions Overhaul gives you more options for moments like these, with potions that can push enemies away, help you move quickly or even draw health from an opponent.

The Dash Potion is one to try when you need to get moving. It gives you a burst of movement and more control in the air, which can help you reposition during a fight or make your way across awkward terrain. The Slime Potion takes a different approach: it gives you a bouncing style of movement, makes falls safer and offers an aerial slam. Take it somewhere open and get used to the effect before relying on it near a deep drop. Bouncing around your base is a good deal less stressful than figuring out how it works over a ravine.

For a more direct way to deal with a crowd, there’s the Shockwave Potion. Its effect sends nearby enemies flying, giving you some breathing room when you’re surrounded. The Anchor Potion also creates a shockwave when you land and can weaken nearby projectiles. Both offer interesting ways to approach a fight, particularly when there’s more than one enemy to worry about. You’ll still need your sword and armor, but having a potion ready gives you another choice when things get messy.

Some of the new effects are about staying alive once the fight has already started. The Vampirism Potion lets you recover health from enemies through combat, while the Thorns Potion sends damage back at attackers. You could bring one along when exploring a dangerous area, especially if you expect a longer battle. There’s also a Toxic Cloud Potion that surrounds you with a damaging field. That one is worth trying when enemies keep getting close and you need a way to make the space around you less welcoming.

Not every potion is meant for a fight. The Magnetism Potion pulls nearby dropped items and experience toward you, which can be handy after a busy mining trip or a battle that leaves drops scattered around. If you’ve spent time breaking blocks and are trying to collect everything before moving on, it can save you from walking back and forth over the same patch of ground. It’s a useful bottle to have on hand when you’re gathering resources rather than looking for trouble.

The potions also have larger forms, with effects that can last longer or become stronger depending on the potion. Try the smaller ones first to see which effects you enjoy, then consider taking a larger one on a longer journey. The add-on includes its own flasks and visual effects, so the new items have a distinct look as well as different uses.

New Potions Overhaul gives you a reason to think about what you’re carrying before you leave home. A movement potion might suit a trip through the mountains, while Vampirism or Shockwave could be more useful when you know a fight is ahead. Experiment with the effects, keep a few favourites close and see which ones find a place in your usual survival supplies.
