Legendary Combat Mod drops you into fights that actually demand timing. Flip combat mode on from the menu (last hotbar slot), keep your weapon out, and every decision matters—light attacks for quick reach and short cooldowns, heavy attacks for slow, stamina-hungry hits that crack armor and end scraps fast. If a light swing doesn’t register, tag the ground once to sync, then go back to work.
The core is risk vs. nerve. Crouch to block and you’ll shave off damage at the cost of stamina; crouch at the last heartbeat before impact and you parry, freezing mobs for ~3 seconds while spending little to none. Against players, a clean parry shreds their stamina bar instead—now it’s your turn to press. Every perfect deflect feeds focus; cap it and you get a 20-second burst of Speed and Resistance, plus the fuel you need to fire off skills. Tap the RPG camera + lock-on in the combat menu to stick to targets and frame duels like a proper boss fight.
Skills make weapons feel distinct. Jump + right-click with a sword to Launch Up (focus cost: 3), popping foes into the air; netherite swords hit harder on that launcher. Maces bring Determination (cost: 5), a quick self-buff—Regen + Resistance for five seconds—and netherite maces add faster swings with reduced focus cost during that window. Maces are craftable now, so you can build a bonk kit early and graduate it later. Shields aren’t tied into the block/parry system yet, so learn the crouch timing—it’s the difference between trading hits and styling on a room.
Best way to play it? Think in strings. Light, light, micro-step, bait the swing, parry, punish with a launcher or a mace buff, then back out before stamina flats. In co-op, have one player fish for parries while the other cashes the focus window with a skill. This isn’t spam—this is reads, spacing, and payoff. Once it clicks, vanilla combat feels like training wheels.
