Touch the clouds and make them home. Skytown – The Floating City mod lifts the whole playfield into the sky for Minecraft Bedrock, so your “ground level” is now bridges, rooftops, and cliff-edge balconies with wind in your face.
What sold me first is the layout. You’re not just walking a flat street—you’re threading wooden and stone houses, suspension bridges, sky pathways, and winding staircases that actually make sense to follow. Every turn teases a tucked-away corner or a secret passage that loops back to a lookout. I like to start at a central square, mark a color on the path, then sweep each tier clockwise so I don’t miss hidden ledges and small attics with bonus views.

You’re crossing a Minecraft field, glance up, and spot rooftops floating above the landscape. Sky Town adds a village in the sky to Bedrock, with cottages and wooden bridges spread across a group of floating islands. Getting up there is the first adventure; deciding what to do once you arrive is the fun part.
The town has a rustic look that fits comfortably into Minecraft’s familiar style. Instead of one enormous platform, its buildings sit across connected islands, giving you reasons to wander from one area to another. There’s a floating market to explore, cottages to look around, and room to imagine what life would be like if your nearest neighbors lived several bridges away from you. Take a moment to look back at the landscape below while you’re up there. A view that looked ordinary from the ground can feel completely different when you’re standing beside a little house high above it.
Reaching the town is something you’ll want to plan for. Bring building blocks, think about how you’re going to get back down, and keep a water bucket handy if that’s part of your usual survival kit. Once you make it up, take a walk across the bridges before deciding where to settle. You could use the town as a base for your next survival adventure, expand an island to make room for a farm, or build a new cottage that matches the existing ones. A staircase or water elevator of your own could make future trips between the town and the ground less of a project. Personally, I’d make getting down safely the first priority; climbing all the way up only to walk off the edge while admiring the view would be a painful start.
The market gives you another idea for how to use the space. If you play with friends, you could turn the town into a shared hub and let everyone choose a building or island to work on. One person might set up storage, another could build a garden, and someone else can take responsibility for making the bridges feel a little safer. It would also be a great place for a group screenshot once everyone has finished arguing over who gets the best cottage. Solo players have just as much room to make the place their own. Leave the original buildings as they are, or gradually add your own paths and platforms until the town reflects the way you like to play.
Sky Town is an addon rather than a standalone map, so it brings the floating settlement into a Minecraft Bedrock world. The linked download is an .mcaddon file; open it to import the pack, then enable it in your world settings. Check the version details before installing, especially if you use other addons that change chest loot or villager trades, as they may not work well together. Once you’re ready, keep an eye on the sky while exploring. Finding a village is always a good moment, but spotting one above the clouds gives you a whole new problem to solve: how are you getting up there?

Vertical play changes your routine. You manage fall risk, line up safer jumps, and use ladders, scaffolding, and water elevators to connect layers. Feather Falling boots are clutch; a water bucket saves lives. Phantoms at night? Post up on a tower, sleep regularly, and light those bridge rails to keep mobs off your shortcuts. The town feels fantasy-styled but still reads Vanilla, so it blends cleanly with your survival gear and building habits.
Skytown is great for creative builders and survival grinders alike. Drop a sky-garden on an empty platform, tie market stalls together with hanging lanterns, or claim a tall tower as your base and wire a magma/soul-sand elevator up the spine. In co-op on Realms, one player scouts rooftops while another secures stairs and lighting, and the city slowly becomes your crew’s vertical hub. If you want exploration loops that always lead up, Skytown – The Floating City mod turns Minecraft Bedrock into a climb-and-discover playground with fresh angles every session.
