Plane Addon is a new version of the most popular and large mod for planes and helicopters in Minecraft. That mountain range between your base and the ocean looks a lot smaller from the air. Plane Addon puts aircraft in Minecraft Bedrock, so you can climb aboard and see what’s on the other side without spending the afternoon digging through stone.
The collection includes planes and helicopters, with more than seven kinds of flying vehicles to try. The regular plane comes in several colors, including red, blue, green, yellow, and black, while the Baron offers another aircraft to take for a spin. Helicopter options include the Huey, Rotoway Scorpion, Sea Sparrow, and Sparrow. Pick one that looks right for your world, whether you’re setting up a little airfield beside your survival base or adding a helicopter landing pad to the roof of a city build. Even parked outside a hangar, an aircraft gives a build a different feel from the usual stable full of horses.
Flying is easy enough to start learning: get into the aircraft and use your movement controls to steer. Looking up makes the plane climb, while looking down sends it lower. On a phone or tablet, you can use the directional buttons to move. Give yourself a wide, open area for the first flight, because figuring out how much space you need is considerably less stressful when there isn’t a mountain directly ahead. Try a short loop over familiar ground, practice coming down near your starting point, and then head farther out once you’re comfortable. Keep an eye on the terrain below; a flat field is a much friendlier place to aim for than the middle of a dense forest.
The regular plane has room for four players, including the pilot, which makes it a good pick for exploring with friends. You could leave from a shared base, follow the coastline, and look for a place to build an outpost. Or take the group on a sightseeing trip over a world everyone has spent months working on. Seeing your farms, roads, and half-finished castle from above can be surprisingly entertaining. If you prefer flying solo, use a trip to scout the land around your next building site. You may spot a river worth following or realize that the village you’ve been looking for was hiding just beyond the hills.
There’s plenty of room to make the aircraft part of your builds, too. Put together a runway with lights along the edges, leave space for a hangar, and park a few different colored planes outside. A helicopter pad could sit beside a hospital or on top of an office building in a city map. For a smaller survival base, even a cleared patch of ground near your house gives you somewhere to start and finish a trip. Activate the add-on’s behavior and resource packs, choose an aircraft, and take it for a short flight. Once you’ve got the hang of steering, the next journey across your world can start from the sky.
