Swearing Your Allegiance
To jump into the action, you don’t just type a casual chat command; you physically hold an "Accept Oath" item in your offhand to swear allegiance to your chosen kingdom. Aligning with a faction turns their historic enemies hostile on sight, forcing you to watch your back during survival exploration. If you decide to ditch your kingdom later by holding the "Refuse Oath" item, you revert to neutral status, but the nation you abandoned will instantly mark you as a traitor.
Last Friday on our medieval SMP, my faction tried holding a cobblestone fortress against six guys running this exact behavior pack, and our standard diamond kits felt like wet paper. Vanilla melee has always suffered from tiny reach and zero weapon variety—you just jump-crit with an axe or spam-click a sword until somebody pops a Totem of Undying. Introducing fifteenth-century metallurgy changes the spacing of every single skirmish. When an attacker charges your shield wall swinging a massive halberd or a two-handed greatsword, you cannot just mindlessly sprint forward anymore. Polearms give players extra reach to poke defenders off battlements or unhorse cavalry riders before they get close enough to swing back.

Command Your Troops
The core gameplay rotates around the custom Army Table, where you can recruit seven distinct types of historical units—ranging from heavily armored knights and pikemen to strategic standard-bearers. You can command these troops dynamically using your nation's official flag, allowing you to execute actual tactical formations instead of just watching random mob brawls. There is also a Settlement Table to spawn local citizens, giving your fortresses a living kingdom atmosphere.
