Edible item's Mod / Addon

Mods / Addons / Mods 1.26

Edible item's Minecraft mod will allow you to eat items, tools and other things, this can be a great help in survival, especially during long trips to the mines. I’ve made some questionable decisions in Minecraft, but I’ve never looked at a diamond pickaxe and thought, “That could be lunch.” Edible Items gives you the chance to do exactly that. The add-on introduces edible versions of things you’d normally use as equipment, including diamond tools and a sword. There’s even a totem, a cactus, and a water bucket on the menu. It’s a ridiculous idea, and that’s what makes it fun: one minute you’re preparing for a mining trip, and the next you’re holding something that looks like a pickaxe and eating it.

The diamond tools are a good place to start. You can make edible versions of a sword, pickaxe, axe, shovel, and hoe, each with its own crafting recipe. Once you’ve made one, hold it and use it as you would a piece of food. There are eating animations as well, so you get to watch your character tuck into an item that really doesn’t look like it belongs on a plate. If you’ve spent a long time saving diamonds for equipment, the idea of turning a tool into a snack might feel a little uncomfortable at first. That reaction is part of the joke.

There’s an important distinction here: the add-on uses specially crafted edible items. Don’t assume every ordinary tool in your inventory has suddenly become food. Check the recipes and make the edible version you want to try, then keep it somewhere you won’t confuse it with the equipment you plan to use. I’d hate to head down into a mine thinking I’d packed a pickaxe, only to discover I brought the one intended for lunch. The crafting table is where you can start experimenting and decide which odd-looking meal you want to make first.

The other choices are just as strange. There’s an edible Totem of Undying, an edible cactus with its own three-dimensional model, and an edible water bucket. A cactus might be the last thing you’d choose for a snack in a normal survival world, while the totem raises a different question: would you really want to eat something that usually helps keep you alive? You can try the different items and see which ones you enjoy carrying around, but don’t expect a specific potion effect or special power unless the item itself tells you otherwise. The main attraction is being able to consume things that are normally kept far away from the dinner table.

Edible Items works in survival, but it’s also an easy add-on to have fun with in a world shared with friends. Craft an edible diamond sword, stand next to someone who hasn’t seen the add-on, and start eating it in front of them. You could make a small collection of the different items or challenge yourselves to prepare the strangest-looking meal. Before playing, activate both the behavior pack and the resource pack so the items and their appearances can work together. Then open the crafting table, pick a recipe, and decide what’s for dinner. Personally, I’d start with the water bucket and leave the diamond pickaxe for a special occasion.

Installation Mod:
- Download the .mcaddon / .mcpack;
- Open the file to import into the game;
- In World Settings → Resource Packs and Behavior Packs, enable it (turn on Experiments if needed);
- Have fun!
