Liminal Craft: Backrooms Mod adds blocks, mobs, monsters and various entities to create a horror world in Minecraft. The hallway looks exactly like the last one, the room behind you is empty, and that vending machine suddenly seems a little too interesting. Liminal Craft: Backrooms gives you the blocks, objects, and creatures to build a Minecraft Bedrock horror world where even an ordinary corner can feel suspicious. This is a sandbox addon designed for creating your own maps, so don’t expect to install it and immediately find a complete Backrooms maze waiting underground. You’re the one deciding where the corridors lead, what hides in the rooms, and how much trouble your friends will have finding their way out. Start with a small cluster of rooms, add a few turns that look almost identical, and see how quickly your test player loses track of the entrance.
The building pieces are just one part of the fun. Liminal Craft adds a collection of entities, including Mold Zombies, Mold Titans, Skin Stealers, and the unsettling Carpet Bear. There are mimics, too, with vending machine and mannequin variants that could make a familiar-looking object a lot less reassuring. The creature list also includes Radio Crabs and Speaker Crabs, so there’s room for strange discoveries alongside the straight-up scary ones. Try the mobs in a separate test area before placing them throughout a map. Seeing how an entity behaves will help you decide whether it belongs at the end of a long hallway, in a room players have to cross, or somewhere they’ll only notice after taking a wrong turn.
A good Backrooms build doesn’t need a monster behind every door. Give players a quiet stretch to explore, let them get comfortable, and then introduce something that makes them question what they just saw. You could make a deserted facility with side rooms and dead ends, or build a maze around a central area that players keep finding by accident. Add the addon’s decorations and items to give those spaces personality: a vending machine in an otherwise empty room can be memorable on its own, especially when your players know a mimic might exist. If you’re building for friends, hide a goal somewhere in the layout and let them work together to reach it. Watching them debate which corridor they’ve already checked is half the entertainment.
Version 0.0.3 is built around creating your own Backrooms spaces, with natural generation planned for a future release. It also includes a hazmat suit, foods, melee items, and additional mold-themed entities and decorations. The linked page provides a ZIP download, so check its contents before importing the addon into Minecraft. For this release, enable the behavior and resource packs and turn on Beta APIs and Upcoming Creator Features before creating your world. Once you’re in, inspect the new blocks and creatures, build a few rooms, and invite someone to test your creation. Just don’t tell them which vending machine you placed there yourself.
Installation Mod:
- Download the .mcaddon / .mcpack;
- Open the file to import into the game;
- In World Settings → Resource Packs and Behavior Packs, enable it (turn on Experiments if needed);
- Have fun!
