Alylica's Item Pets Addon

Mods / Addons / Mods 1.21

Alylica's Item Pets Collectable pets addon for you in Minecraft.

Alylica's Item Pets Mod is one of those addons that changes your whole day-to-day survival flow because your “pet” is literally an item you carry. The big rule is simple: pets only work when they’re in your hotbar. If you toss them into a chest or leave them in some random inventory slot, they’re basically off-duty and won’t do anything. Keep one on your hotbar and it starts doing its thing, either passively over time or through an active ability you trigger by holding it and using it.

The energy system is what keeps it from feeling like permanent free buffs. As a pet works, its energy drops, and once it hits zero it can’t help until you feed it. Each pet has its own specific food, and when it gets hungry it’ll eat from any slot in your inventory, which is super convenient but also something you’ll want to pay attention to if you’re carrying food for yourself or saving items for later.

As of 1.2.0, Alylica's Item Pets Mod says you can get 17 different pets, and they cover a ton of playstyles. You’ve got movement and survival helpers like Chicken (movespeed and slower falls), Slime (jump boost and reduced fall damage), Squid (water speed), Glow Squid (night vision), and Nautilus (underwater breathing). Combat and chaos pets are stacked too: Blaze strengthens attacks and gives fire immunity, Wither adds withering to attacks and makes you immune to poison, Ghast lets you shoot fireballs, and Creeper lets you blow up nearby stuff when used. Utility pets are where it gets really fun: Enderman gives instant teleport where you’re looking, Spider lets you climb walls, Bed skips night to day when used, Breeze levitates you upward if you crouch, and Axolotl heals you quickly if your health is low. There are also vibe-heavy picks like Nightmare, which boosts strength and gives you darkness, and Creaking, which makes you very resistant to damage when used, plus Camel for a forward dash.

Getting them is basically a hunting loop. Most pets have a small chance to drop from their matching mob, and rarer mobs like Breezes have a higher drop chance than something common like a Chicken. The Bed pet can be found in villager chests, and the Nightmare pet shows up in ancient city chests, which makes those runs way more tempting. Practical tip: don’t try to juggle five pets at once right away—pick one that matches what you’re doing that day (caving, traveling, fighting, water exploring), keep it in your hotbar, and make sure you’ve got its food on you so it doesn’t conk out right when you need it most.
