Expanded Backpacks Mod is a clean survival utility addon for players who constantly run out of space mid-adventure. The base options are the Default Backpack and Dyed Backpacks at 27 slots, then it steps up through Copper (36), Iron (54), Golden (63), Diamond (72), and finally Netherite at 88 slots. That tier system fits survival really naturally because it gives you a reason to upgrade instead of just skipping straight to max storage.

Using it is simple: you open the backpack by holding it in your hand. On mobile you get an “Open” button, and on PC you just right-click. That’s nice because it keeps the backpack feeling like a tool you actively use, not some clunky block you have to place down every time. There’s also a specific note about dimension travel. If you’re holding the backpack and you go to another dimension, you just take it out of your hand and put it back in to open it again. That’s a small step, but it’s straightforward and easy to remember, so it won’t mess with your routine once you’ve done it once or twice.

One of the best survival-safety touches is the lock behavior: when the backpack is in your hand, it locks and prevents it from being moved or put inside itself. That’s huge for avoiding dumb inventory mistakes, especially when you’re speed-looting or panicking in a cave. It keeps the backpack from getting lost in your inventory shuffle and blocks the classic “bag inside bag” nonsense that can break storage systems.

Practical tip: pick a tier that matches how you play. If you’re mostly building and hauling blocks, the higher tiers like Diamond or Netherite will feel amazing. If you’re early-game and just want breathing room for cave runs, even the 27–36 slot backpacks can completely change how long you can stay out before heading home.
