Spellbound Skies Mod / Addon

Spellbound Skies Mod is basically the “magic era” version of the Dragon Mounts idea. It’s not the same addon as Dragon Mounts 2, and it leans into a different theme: wild dragons out in the world, spell-style features, and even boss battles. The catch is right up front too—this project is still in ALPHA, unfinished, and you should expect bugs. Also, just like the other Dragon Mounts add-ons, the disclaimer says you have to play them by themselves, not together, so don’t stack the series and then wonder why things break.

Right now, the available wild dragons are ore-themed, which makes exploration feel like you’re hunting rare finds in a new way. You can run into a Lapis Dragon and Redstone Dragon as common ore types, a Gold Dragon as uncommon, an Emerald Dragon as rare, and a Quartz Dragon listed as legendary. Even before you hatch anything, that list alone gives you a reason to roam and scout, especially if you’re the kind of player who likes collecting “one of each” and setting goals for your world.



Dragon eggs are the start of your own dragon journey. Once you find an egg, you mine it, then you can place it down anywhere. To begin hatching, you interact with it—no special item needed—and then it’s a waiting game. After around 40 minutes, a baby dragon hatches. If you’re impatient or you’re running a faster-paced survival session, you can speed up the hatch with ender eyes, which is a nice option when you don’t want to babysit an egg for almost an hour. A good move is to set the egg somewhere safe at your base, because the process takes time and you don’t want it sitting in a random spot you’ll forget about.

Once the baby dragon is here, you tame it (the exact method is listed in the guidebook) and it grows over time. There’s also an alternate approach where feeding more helps it grow, so you can push progression if you’re trying to get to the rideable stage quicker. When your dragon becomes an adult, you can saddle it and ride it. Flying has a simple feel: hit the jump button/key to start, and the dragon orients itself based on your line of sight, which makes it feel more like you’re steering with your camera rather than fighting clunky controls.

Combat-wise, Spellbound Skies Mod gives you attacks while airborne. While the dragon is flying, you can interact using a blaze rod or a dragon breath bottle to shoot a fireball or breath-style attack. The dragon breath bottle can also be obtained by interacting with the dragon while holding a bottle, which is a slick little detail that keeps you from needing some separate complicated setup.

Spellbound Skies Mod is the kind of Minecraft Bedrock addon you install when you want your world to feel bigger and more “fantasy,” with dragons that aren’t just pets but part of a magic-themed loop. Just treat it like an ALPHA adventure: expect some jank, keep backups of your world if you’re cautious, and don’t combine it with the other Dragon Mounts add-ons since the disclaimer says to run them separately.

Installation Mod:
- Download the .mcaddon / .mcpack;
- Open the file to import into the game;
- In World Settings → Resource Packs and Behavior Packs, enable it (turn on Experiments if needed);
- Have fun!
