Just Cosmetics Mod will add various decorations, items and blocks that are specially designed to beautify your character and the Minecraft world. A skeleton wearing a hat is worth a second look, especially when defeating it means you can take that hat home. Just Cosmetics turns encounters like these into a way to build your own collection of outfits and accessories. There are more than 500 cosmetic items to discover, giving you plenty of ways to change your character’s appearance while continuing an ordinary survival game. A trip for bones or experience might end with something new to wear.
Collecting happens through mob drops. Certain creatures can spawn wearing hats, while cosmetic bags have a chance to drop from mobs more generally. Open a bag and you’ll receive a cosmetic according to its rarity, with categories including Common, Uncommon, Rare and Epic. That makes finding a bag a small event of its own. You won’t know whether the contents will become your new favourite or join the growing pile of things you’ve already collected.
Duplicates still have a use. Unwanted cosmetics can be recycled into scraps, which can then go towards more bags or higher-tier scraps. It gives you a reason to keep those extra finds until you get back to your base. Perhaps you’ll set up a small work area beside your storage room, with a chest for items you want to keep and another for pieces ready to recycle. After a few adventures, sorting through the collection can become a project in itself.
Some items offer additional ways to change their appearance. Dyeable cosmetics can be coloured using a cauldron, while certain pieces have variants available through the Just Tailored Mannequin. Check an item’s description before experimenting so you know which options it supports. A colour change might help a hat match your skin, or make a familiar outfit feel different enough to wear again. Choose your preferred variant before enchanting, since changing variants afterward can remove the enchantments.
These items also provide protection, with armor values comparable to diamond or netherite equipment. Their durability depends on rarity and the slot they occupy, so it’s worth checking a piece before taking it on a long journey. You can enchant the cosmetics, and hats can be repaired with Mending or the Special Hat item. That makes a favourite find something you can keep using rather than putting it away as soon as you leave the safety of your house. Some cosmetics also have animations or optional particles, adding a little movement to the outfit.
Eventually, you may have more accessories than you could reasonably wear. The Wardrobe and Hat Display give you somewhere to show them off, which is a good excuse to turn an unused room into a dressing room or collection gallery. Arrange your favourites near the entrance, keep a few outfits ready for different adventures or let friends browse the display when they visit. A cabinet full of unusual hats tells a different story from another chest packed with cobblestone.
Just Cosmetics fits nicely into a world where you enjoy collecting things as much as building or exploring. You can carry on with your usual plans, pick up bags along the way and gradually put together a look you like. The next time a strangely dressed mob wanders into view, you may find yourself more interested in its outfit than the supplies you originally came to gather.
