Keys & Crates Addon wooden boxes with locks, they will be generated all over the world and have treasures. Which can be opened with keys in Minecraft. Look at the screenshots how the boxes look and use them to good use.
A locked crate is a terrible thing to find when you’ve got everything except the right key. Keys & Crates adds that little problem to Minecraft Bedrock, scattering containers through the world with random loot waiting inside.
Finding a crate is only half the job. Different containers call for different ways of opening them, so it pays to check what you’re dealing with before swinging whatever happens to be in your hand. Wooden crates can be opened with an axe, while locked varieties need their matching keys. Copper, iron, gold, diamond, and Piglin keys give you several types to keep track of as you explore. The rewards range from basic supplies to more valuable items, which means every opening comes with some uncertainty. You might get something useful for your current project, or something worth saving for later. Go in expecting a guaranteed upgrade and you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. Go in curious, and even a modest haul can feel like a worthwhile stop during a longer expedition.
There’s a trading side to the hunt, too. Crates Traders and Piglin Crates Traders offer another way to engage with the system, giving you a reason to pay attention to who you meet along the way. Trader houses and crate piles also add discoveries to your travels, so a trip across the Overworld can turn up more than the usual terrain. Before heading out, leave a few inventory slots empty and bring the equipment you expect to need. It’s easy to pack for combat and mining, then realize you have nowhere to put the spoils. If you find a locked crate you can’t open yet, write down its coordinates. That turns an annoying dead end into a destination for your next outing, especially when you finally get hold of the key you were missing.
I’d treat Keys & Crates as an excuse to take the scenic route. Pick a direction you haven’t explored, bring food and a bed, and let the discoveries decide how far you go. On a shared world, you could organize a scavenging trip and compare everyone’s haul back at home, or agree to pool useful materials for a community build. Keep a separate chest for keys so they don’t disappear into the same storage mess as your spare seeds and half-used tools. You could even make a small expedition room with a map wall and notes about places to revisit. None of that needs elaborate rules; it just gives the crate hunt a place in your survival routine. The satisfying part is having a reason to return somewhere you might otherwise forget. That container you couldn’t open yesterday becomes today’s first stop, and suddenly a simple supply run has a detour you’re actually looking forward to.
